Former officer Perez asks for job back after James Boyd trial

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (KRQE) – One day after a judge declared a mistrial in the murder trial of two former Albuquerque Police Department officers, one of those officers wants his job back.

Dominique Perez was fired under APD policy after the murder charges were filed in the shooting death of homeless camper James Boyd. Perez was a nine year veteran of the force at the time.

Perez is still charged with murder and the case could be re-tried. APD hasn’t commented.

The other former officer in the case, Keith Sandy, retired from the department and was able to collect his pension.
