Stryker LFIT Anatomic V40 CoCr Femoral Head RECALL

Thousands of patients may be impacted by this recently announced recall involving the Stryker LFIT Anatomic V40 Femoral Head, which connects to a femoral hip stem trunnion. Numerous injuries have been reported stemming from an improper lock between the head and the trunnion. This can lead to corrosion of the metal hip components. This corrosion results in metallic ions being shed into the blood stream. The head is composed of cobalt and chromium, giving rise to the risk of metallosis or metal poisoning.

Signs include: severe pain, loss of mobility, inflammation, periprosthetic fracture, infection, dissociation, dislocation, need for revision surgery.

If you have been implanted with this device, there is a high probability that you will require a revision surgery to remove the head and replace it. If you have received this device, you may receive a letter from your implanting surgeon, but you may also wish to contact your surgeon or a lawyer to inquire whether you received one of these defective Stryker femoral heads. Stryker Rejuvenate Hip Implant RECALL

Although recalled in July 2012, an estimated 20,000 Stryker Rejuvenate modular-neck stems were sold throughout the United States, including to patients in New Mexico. As a result, thousands of patients have been exposed to the potential of metal fretting and corrosion, which results in the release of toxic metal debris into the surrounding tissue and blood stream.

Patients who had a Stryker Rejuvenate hip implant that is subject to the recall in many instances have received a letter from a company called Broadspire Stryker. This company is the third-party claims administrator that Stryker hired to process claims for patients to obtain hip replacements. While time is of the essence, before contacting Broadspire, you may want to consult with a lawyer regarding your rights. Claims made via Broadspire do not include reimbursement for your pain and suffering, lost enjoyment of life, or many of the hardships you and your family have experienced as a result of this defective product.

Litigation to compensate those harmed by this known defective Stryker design is pending in federal and state courts throughout the country. Signs Of Hip Implant Failure

Toxic metal fragments from defective Stryker and Zimmer hip implants escape into the bloodstream and surrounding tissue.
